HISTORY OF GIVING

At Y-Camp, we are fortunate to have the generosity of so many others in supporting our mission. While each and every gift to Y-Camp makes a difference in the lives of children and families, the following stories share how some families have chosen to generously support camp for many generations.

THE RAY & DORIS PUGH
ENDOWMENT

We are thankful for camps rich history and the individuals that make it so special. Dr. Ray Pugh (Camp Director from 1970-1991), his wife Doris and their family are intertwined with camps long history. Wyatt Pugh followed in his dad's footsteps by becoming the camp director from1992-1994. All of their children, many of their spouses and grandchildren have been committed to Y Camp throughout the generations. Many of their family has dedicated their services by working at camp, volunteering their time and serving in leadership roles on the Y Camp Board.

The Ray & Doris Pugh Endowment was created as a way to support Y-Camp's ongoing needs. Because of the generosity of the Pugh family and friends of Y-Camp the Pugh Endowment has helped make many of camp's dreams possible.

JOHN MATHEW

John Mathew is one of Y-Camp's most dedicated champions and one of the Five Fires Foundation's most impactful supporters. A camper through 1971, Leader from 1972 to 1976, and Y-Camp Board member from 1978 to 1981, John's lifelong connection to camp inspired him to give back after a successful career in journalism and publishing.

In 2010, alongside longtime camp friend B. Scott Tschudy, he established the John M. Mathew Trust, which has contributed more than $100,000 to support Y-Camp's programs and capital improvements, including the Low Ropes Course, North Gate, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and camp-wide PA system. John has also designated Y-Camp and the Five Fires Foundation as beneficiaries of his estate, ensuring his generosity will continue for generations to come. His lifelong commitment to preserving and strengthening the place that shaped him serves as an inspiration to others and leaves a lasting legacy for future campers.
